About

Our Mission

The Canadian Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society's (CCDS) mission is to encourage interest in the cultivation of chrysanthemums and dahlias.

To realize this mission the society offers a variety of ways to educate members, including meetings, garden shows, annual plant and tuber sales, and show competitions. We use both electronic and print media, as well as social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

In addition to education, we also provide opportunities for our members to socialize and connect with one another. Our annual holiday dinner get-together is one such event where members can enjoy the fellowship of other enthusiasts.

Our History

In 1965, a group of devoted chrysanthemum and dahlia enthusiasts came together to form the club. Their love and enthusiasm for these beautiful plants were infectious, and the membership quickly expanded to over one hundred members. Today, we have members and speakers from all around the world who share our passion for chrysanthemums and dahlias. We are steadfast in our mission to learn, teach, and grow in our hobby.

Executive Committee

The executive committee headed by the president is composed of elected officials and serves for a specific term.

The committee is responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of the Society. The responsibilities include but are not limited to making decisions on behalf of the organization, developing, and implementing strategies to achieve the Society’s goals, managing finances and budgets, organizing events and activities, speaking engagements, and ensuring that the organization operates in compliance with its bylaws and any applicable laws and regulations.

The Executive committee convenes monthly meetings throughout the year. Committee members action items between meetings and report on their progress during these sessions. Since COVID-19, all meetings are conducted online via Zoom.
